What's the difference between trimming and pruning?

People use them interchangeably. Technically, pruning is the targeted removal of specific branches for health and structure, while trimming often refers to shaping and clearance. We do both — always with the tree's long-term health in mind.

How often should desert trees be trimmed?

Most established desert trees do well with a thinning every 1–2 years, ideally before monsoon season. Fast growers and palms may need annual attention. We'll recommend a cadence for your specific trees.

Will trimming help my trees survive monsoon season?

It's the single best thing you can do. Thinning a dense canopy lets the wind pass through instead of loading the tree like a sail, and removing deadwood and weak, crossing limbs takes away the pieces most likely to fail. We schedule most storm-prep thinning from late winter through early summer.

Do you trim hedges and shrubs as well as trees?

We do. Oleander, bougainvillea, Texas sage, privet, and wall-line hedges are all part of our hedge and shrub trimming service, and we're happy to handle them on the same visit as your trees.

Can you work around my HOA's rules?

Yes. Many West Valley HOAs have standards for canopy height over sidewalks, palm skirt removal, and how low branches can hang over the street. We know the common requirements and prune to keep you in compliance.
